Review: Xavier's Way

Xavier's WayXavier's Way by Diana DeRicci

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Very enjoyable read from Diana DeRicci. I enjoyed the slow build-up from friends to lovers. And I have to admit, the GFY plot device is one of my favorites.

My only issue would be I actually wanted more at the ending. I would of liked to read about the reactions of Xavier's friends/family were he to have the talk with them.

Back to NormalBack to Normal by Wren Boudreau

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I loved this! The writing, plot, pacing, characters...everything was amazing. The only issue I had was the ending. I actually wanted more! I'd love to read about the fall-out of the news program and Greg's own paranormal powers.

Highly recommended!

I loved this book...right until the end. The ending was so abrupt after everything that had happened in the story. All the loose ends were tied up off page. I would of rated this much higher if there was just a few more chapters to flesh out the ending.

I loved this book! Pretty much everything about it; the hot, young rock star wanting to change his life and start a family, the dominate and brawny sheriff going after what he wants. I fell in love with the characters and the storyline.

I've never read this author before, but they are already on my 'must by' list!

Interesting murder/mystery, but your left with a few questions at the end. Though I did fall in love with Jarrett and Eli! I enjoyed their interactions, and the attraction between them was smokin'. :)

I do wish it was a bit longer to clear up a few things, but other than that, a some very solid story-telling.

Review: The Cowboy Poet

The Cowboy PoetThe Cowboy Poet by Claire Thompson

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Very well written story. I enjoyed both main characters very much. Neither was perfect, but you could tell they cared deeply for the other.

My only niggle would be the m/m/m scene. Though it was very sexy, I thought it way too early in Tyler and Clint's relationship for that to have happened. (and I wasn't really expecting it. I like to know if the main characters have sex with other people...or including other people in the sex beforehand. But then again, that's just me!)

I enjoyed this quick free read from ARE. My favorites were 'The Unlikely Vamp' by Scarlet Blackwell and 'The Hunter and the Hunted' by Stevie Woods. I was also fascinated with 'Fire Can Make Rain' by Nix Winter. Made me wish they were longer!

I've never read anything by Stevie Woods or Nix Winter before, so I'm looking forward to seeing what else they have published.

Sahara BlueSahara Blue by Jan Irving

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was hard for me to rate. I'd give it 3 1/2 stars (rounding up to 4). There were parts I loved and parts that made me go 'huh?'.

I loved the main characters and I did enjoy Seth's fantasies with Sahara...very hot!

Also, this is part of a series (Mastering Toby was the book before this one), but considering I haven't read the first book, this can be read as a stand-alone.

Review: Portrait Of A Kiss

Portrait Of A Kiss (Southern Beaus #1)Portrait Of A Kiss by T.D. McKinney

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Good ghost story. I enjoyed the investigation parts and the secondary characters (though I had to keep reminding myself most of them were old men/woman). The ending was a great HEA with and unexpected twist.

I did think the hero's got together a bit too fast (I would of loved to see more of Brian haunting a clueless David). And I also had issues with the names (I kept forgetting which was the ghost and which was the cop). Plus, some of the sweet talk was a bit too much at times. (but that's just my personal niggle)

All in all, recommended to fans of hauntings and ghost stories.

Review: Deeper Blue

Deeper BlueDeeper Blue by A.J. Llewellyn

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I have to agree with some of the other reviewers here; I really didn't like the character Benoit. Maybe if there was some sort of reason behind his cruelty (especially at the end when he taunted Tracy with Dimitri) or an apology of some sort (which I thought Tracy deserved). He just seemed to take advantage of Tracy.

I did enjoy all the Greek descriptions. It really set the tone and made it seem like you were there.

It was hard to put this one down! Amazing world building and I couldn't stop (virtually) turning the pages.

Heart Of SteeleHeart Of Steele by G.A. Hauser

I bought this as soon as it came out since I really enjoyed the short story 'Exchange of Hearts'.

The book was sex, sex, and a bit more sex. While I don't mind a pwp, I would of loved to have a bit more plot to go with this one, since I really enjoyed the short story and the story idea to start with. (plus, Rick's behavior and attitude to his family turned me right off)

GA Hauser's books are either a hit or miss with me. Unfortunately, this one was a miss. :(

This was a gripping read! The murder/mystery aspect was compelling and engrossing. Some great story-telling there! I enjoyed the 'romance' part of the book as well, though I never really warmed up to Spider, one of the main characters. (mostly due to his 'his way or no way' attitude and the one scene everyone else has already commented on) Started the second book already and can't wait to see what happens next for them.

Not a bad read, but I admit the use of the word 'mate' got on my nerves after the fiftieth time or so. (it's actually used much, much more than that) I have to say, it took most of my enjoyment from the story. Plus, I never really warmed up to Barker.

I did like the werewolf aspect of the story (Cody's condition and such were interesting), and the sex is pretty hot even if I didn't like on of the MC's. :)

Review: The Trap

The TrapThe Trap by Indigo Wren

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Very good book which I couldn't put down. I have to admit, the first section of the book made me very uncomfortable and it was a bit hard for me to read. I didn't like Ethan until the second half of the book. The fact that he let David spend a few days alone outside, in the rain no less, and no food really bothered me. There was no apology for it and he really didn't seem to care.

I enjoyed the second half very much and will be reading more from this author.

Review: Out of the Darkness

Out of the Darkness (Dark Horse, #2)Out of the Darkness by Kate Sherwood

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Just as engrossing as the first book. Though I have to admit, I liked the first better for some reason. I didn't really feel as if they resolved some of their issues at the end. Maybe because of the story is told from Dan's PoV, but I didn't really see Evan and Jeff's affection for him much. I'd liked to have read their individual feelings on him also. Also, it seemed a huge build-up to a very quick ending. (I think someone else pointed that out too)

But all in all, amazing read! Will be definitely be looking forward to more from this author.
